IQ Pistol Series safes are built on the HS Series construction platform — heavy-gauge solid steel body and door, hardened anti-drill plating, 32mm chrome-plated locking bolts, and spring-loaded case relocker. Fixed pistol hangers are standard and an internal ammunition box is optional on IQ Series.

IQ-2 fits 4 fixed pistol hangers in a 510×380×380mm footprint. IQ-3 expands to a 510mm cube with 5 hangers and more ammunition / accessory space — most multi-handgun licence holders specify IQ-3 or larger.
IQ-5 fits 8 fixed pistol hangers and 150L of internal storage — designed for collectors and dealers managing larger handgun inventories.
Most state Cat H requirements include separate ammunition storage. The optional IQ-AMMOBOX satisfies this within the same safe; some jurisdictions may require a physically separate cabinet.
Every DS Series safe with an electronic or biometric lock is covered by our Power for Life initiative. Once a year, you can redeem a free replacement battery at any authorised Dominator dealer — no receipts, no conditions, for as long as you own the safe.

IQ Pistol Series safes can be installed by your dealer or a qualified safe installer. Smaller models (IQ-2, IQ-3) can be positioned by two people; IQ-4 and IQ-5 typically require a trolley.
Most states require the safe to be bolted down. Confirm your requirements with your state firearms registry. IQ Series safes include 4 internal recessed bolt holes plus 2 rear or side fixings for wall-anchored installations.
Identify fixing bolt provisions — every IQ Pistol Series model has 4 × internal recessed bolt holes plus 2 × rear or side internal fixings. Most states require the safe to be bolted down. Confirm your requirements with your state firearms registry.
Identify install position with access clearance (allow for door swing and handing)

IQ Pistol Series safes include a spring-loaded case relocker — a secondary locking mechanism designed to activate if the primary lock is attacked. Understanding how it works helps you know when it’s engaged and what to do if it is.
A thin glass plate is embedded behind the primary lock body. If a drilling, punch, or torch attack breaks the glass, spring-loaded secondary bolts deploy and jam the locking mechanism. Once activated, the safe cannot be opened even if the primary lock is subsequently bypassed — it requires professional recovery by a qualified safe technician.
The relocker is a permanent protection feature, not a consumable. It exists to make the safe effectively unusable to an attacker even if they partially succeed against the primary lock.
If you cannot open your safe and suspect the relocker has engaged (usually after attempted forced entry), contact your Dominator dealer immediately. Do not attempt forced opening — this can cause permanent damage to the safe body.
A qualified safe technician can recover the relocker and restore normal operation. The safe itself remains structurally sound and can usually return to service after a relocker recovery.
IQ Pistol Series safes require minimal maintenance. Wipe pistol hangers and shelving with a dry cloth as part of regular firearms maintenance. Lubricate locks and hinges occasionally and replace electronic lock batteries annually under Power for Life.
Redeem your free battery through Power for Life. Replace before low-battery warnings, not after.
Apply a drop of lock-grade lubricant to the dial spindle annually. Avoid WD-40 or general-purpose oils — they can gum up precision movements.
Book a qualified safe technician to inspect hinges, bolt work, and relocker mechanism. Typical service takes 30–60 minutes.
Check fire seals (where fitted) for compression and integrity. Replace if damaged.

Battery is most likely depleted. Replace the 9V battery and try your code again. Use a brand-new Duracell 9V Alkaline battery only. If the keypad still doesn’t respond, contact your dealer for diagnosis.
