The DR Series is Dominator's range of compliant drug and pharmaceutical safes — designed for clinics, veterinary practices and any environment that stores Schedule 8 drugs. Compact wall-mountable models through to large floor-standing units, all built to satisfy regulatory storage requirements with insurance-grade construction.
Why DR Series
Built specifically for the secure storage of Schedule 8 drugs in clinical, veterinary and pharmaceutical settings. Construction satisfies state regulatory requirements for drug storage.
Cash rating $50,000 and insurable valuables rating up to $500,000 — the highest cash-to-size ratio in the Dominator range, reflecting the high-value items typically stored.
DR-1 and DR-2 include wall and floor mounting provisions, allowing flexible installation in clinical environments where floor space is limited.

With compact sizing and direct locking configuration, the DR-1 is the most cost efficient, compliant drug cabinet. Available with key, combination or electronic digital lock options, the DR-1 is also versatile enough to allow simple day to day operation.

Spacious and functional, the DR-2 provides exceptional value with wall and floor mounting provisions to cater for different installation configurations and can be easily converted to any lock type.
All DR Series safes drawn to actual relative scale. DR-1 at 350mm through to DR-4 at 1200mm — designed to suit clinical, veterinary and pharmaceutical applications.
Independently rated for high-value drug and pharmaceutical storage. Cash rating $50,000 / valuables rating $500,000 — the highest insurance ratio in the Dominator range.

Standard across the range
DR Series safes are constructed to resist forced-entry attacks while satisfying state regulatory requirements for drug storage. Hardened anti-drill plating around the lock and a relocker that engages if attacked. Wall and floor mounting provisions on smaller models make them suitable for installations where floor space is at a premium.
DR Series safes carry insurable ratings that your business insurer can use to set sub-limits for the high-value items typically stored:
Where local regulations require specific drug-storage compliance, your dealer can provide documentation for your records and your insurer.
Compliant drug storage with the highest cash-to-size insurance ratio in the Dominator range.
DR Series safes are engineered to satisfy regulatory drug-storage requirements while resisting forced-entry attacks. Every feature below is standard across the range.
Built specifically to satisfy state regulatory requirements for Schedule 8 drug storage in clinical and pharmaceutical settings.
Heavy-gauge solid steel construction throughout. Reinforced framework provides strength against forced-entry attacks.
All models include hardened steel anti-drill plating around the lock and a spring-loaded case relocker that engages if attacked.
DR-1 and DR-2 include both wall and floor mounting provisions for flexible installation in space-constrained clinical environments.
Single-point direct locking on smaller models — cost-efficient and reliable for the standard clinical drug-cabinet use case.
DR-3 and DR-4 (discontinued) use 7-point handle-driven bolt work for the highest level of forced-entry resistance.
Standardised lock mounting allows easy conversion between key, combination and electronic lock types.
Durable textured black paint finish suitable for clinical environments.
DR Series safes can be specified left-hand or right-hand hinge. DR-1 and DR-2 include wall mounting provisions; floor mounting is recommended where space allows. Confirm configuration with your dealer at time of order.
Every DR Series model is available in three lock configurations as standard. All lock types use a universal footprint, meaning conversion between types is straightforward for a qualified safe technician.

DR-1 suits low-volume clinical use; DR-2 is the most common general-practice and veterinary specification with 28L capacity and 3 shelves. Specify based on how many controlled drugs you actively manage, not just total volume.
DR-1 and DR-2 include wall mounting provisions — useful in compact clinical rooms or veterinary surgeries where floor space is at a premium. Confirm wall-construction load bearing with your installer.
Some regulatory frameworks and insurance policies require dual-control access to drug stores. The secondary Ross 700 key lock upgrade satisfies this requirement on DR Series safes.
Every DS Series safe with an electronic or biometric lock is covered by our Power for Life initiative. Once a year, you can redeem a free replacement battery at any authorised Dominator dealer — no receipts, no conditions, for as long as you own the safe.
It's our way of making sure your safe stays accessible for decades, not just years.
Power for Life applies across the full range: HS Series, DS Series, GC Series (gun cabinets), FA Series and FX Series.

Recommended Duracell Procell Alkaline battery
DR Series safes can be installed by your dealer or a qualified safe installer. DR-1 and DR-2 can be wall- or floor-mounted; the larger discontinued DR-3 and DR-4 are floor-mount only.
Secure mounting is essential — an unmounted drug safe can be removed in minutes by a determined thief. DR Series safes include 4 internal bolt-down provisions on DR-1 and DR-2, and 8 on DR-3 and DR-4.
Identify mounting bolt provisions — DR-1 and DR-2 have 4 × internal bolt holes for wall or floor mounting. Confirm hole positions with your dealer before drilling.
Identify install position with access clearance (allow for door swing and handing)
Confirm delivery access route (doorways, corridors, stairs)
Schedule installation through your dealer — most offer delivery + install as a package
Keep installation certificate for insurance records

DR Series safes include a spring-loaded case relocker — a secondary locking mechanism designed to activate if the primary lock is attacked. Understanding how it works helps you know when it’s engaged and what to do if it is.
A thin glass plate is embedded behind the primary lock body. If a drilling, punch, or torch attack breaks the glass, spring-loaded secondary bolts deploy and jam the locking mechanism. Once activated, the safe cannot be opened even if the primary lock is subsequently bypassed — it requires professional recovery by a qualified safe technician.
The relocker is a permanent protection feature, not a consumable. It exists to make the safe effectively unusable to an attacker even if they partially succeed against the primary lock.
If you cannot open your safe and suspect the relocker has engaged (usually after attempted forced entry), contact your Dominator dealer immediately. Do not attempt forced opening — this can cause permanent damage to the safe body.
A qualified safe technician can recover the relocker and restore normal operation. The safe itself remains structurally sound and can usually return to service after a relocker recovery.
DR Series safes require minimal maintenance but benefit from occasional service to keep locks and hinges operating smoothly through years of use.
Redeem your free battery through Power for Life. Replace before low-battery warnings, not after.
Apply a drop of lock-grade lubricant to the dial spindle annually. Avoid WD-40 or general-purpose oils — they can gum up precision movements.
Book a qualified safe technician to inspect hinges, bolt work, and relocker mechanism. Typical service takes 30–60 minutes.
Check fire seals (where fitted) for compression and integrity. Replace if damaged.

Battery is most likely depleted. Replace the 9V battery and try your code again. Use a brand-new Duracell 9V Alkaline battery only. If the keypad still doesn’t respond, contact your dealer for diagnosis.
