Under-Counter Series

UC Series High-security commercial and domestic safes

The UC Series is Dominator's compact under-counter deposit range — designed for point-of-sale environments where staff need to drop cash and envelopes throughout the day without ever opening a main safe door. Three models from UC-1 (35L cube) through to compact UC-2 and UC-3 envelope-format units. Note slot accepts cash without inserting fingers into the safe.

Why UC Series

Engineered for the point of sale.

POS deposit slot

Note slot accepts cash, envelopes and small deposit pouches without inserting fingers into the safe — the standard solution for staff cash management at the point of sale.

Compact, secure cube

Solid steel construction throughout. UC-1 (cube format) carries 3 active locking points with secondary relocking. UC-2 and UC-3 use direct locking in a compact envelope-format body for tight installations.

Mount and forget

4 internal bolt holes per model allow under-counter, in-cabinet or floor-fixed installation. Once mounted, the UC Series sits invisibly in your retail environment and accepts deposits all day.

Dominator UC-2 deposit safe

UC-2

The same volume as the UC-1, the UC-2 cash deposit box is the next size in the series which changes the orientation to a longer, shorter configuration to allow for envelopes or to fit where other sizes cannot. With such a small door and opening, it limits the ability for attacks on the door of the safe, making it stronger when it needs to be.

Independently tested burglary protection

UC Series under-counter safes are built around the realistic attack profile a POS deposit safe faces — opportunistic theft, prying, and basic drilling. Solid steel body and door, hardened anti-drill plating around the lock, and a relocker that engages if attacked. Note slot is sized to accept deposits without allowing fingers (or tools) into the safe interior.

Insurance ratings (AUD)

UC Series safes carry a $15,000 cash rating in unsupported applications. For higher cash-management volumes, the DD Series tilt-drawer deposit safes add cash ratings up to $30,000:

  • Cash rating: $15,000 across the range
  • Application: point-of-sale cash deposits

Where your end-of-day takings exceed $15K or you need a key-lockable internal compartment, step up to the DD Series.

Engineering

Construction and Security Features

UC Series under-counter safes are engineered for the unique constraints of point-of-sale cash management — frequent deposits, multiple staff, and tight installation footprints.

Note slot — POS deposit

Note slot accepts cash, envelopes and deposit pouches without opening the main door. Sized to prevent fishing of deposited items.

Solid steel construction

Heavy-gauge solid steel body and door. Compact format optimises steel-per-litre for maximum burglary protection in a small body.

Hardened anti-drill plating

Hardened steel anti-drill plating around the lock — the primary attack vector on compact deposit safes.

3-point bolt work (UC-1)

UC-1 uses 3-point handle-driven bolt work for prying resistance. UC-2 and UC-3 use cost-efficient direct locking in their compact format.

Multi-position mounting

4 internal bolt holes allow under-counter, in-cabinet, or floor-mounting depending on your retail fitout.

Single key-lockable opening

Single main door provides access for end-of-day cash collection. Note slot is the only daily-use opening.

Universal lock footprint

Standardised lock mounting allows easy conversion between key, combination and electronic lock types.

Textured black paint

Durable textured black paint finish — designed for under-counter installations where the safe is rarely seen.

Available in base mounting

UC Series safes are right-hand-hinge standard. 4 internal bolt holes per model allow flexible under-counter, in-cabinet, or floor-fixed installation. Confirm install location with your dealer at order.

Lock Options

Lock Options and Upgrades

Every UC Series model is available in three lock configurations as standard. The Ross 700 key lock is the most common specification for POS environments — single point of access for the manager doing end-of-day collection.

Secondary Key Lock Upgrade

UC Series safes can be specified with a secondary lock where required. For most POS applications a single Ross 700 key lock is the standard specification. Your dealer can advise on the right configuration.

Universal Lock Footprint

UC Series safes use a universal lock mounting footprint — meaning any of the three lock types can be retrofitted to an existing safe by a qualified safe technician.

For Specifiers

DS Series Specification Tips

UC-1 — standard POS specification

UC-1 (355mm cube, 35L) is the standard POS deposit specification — fits under most retail counters with 3-point bolt work and a $15K cash rating. UC-2 and UC-3 are compact envelope-format alternatives for tight cabinet installations.

Step up to DD Series for higher volume

If end-of-day takings approach $15K, or you need a key-lockable internal compartment for cash collection, step up to the DD Series tilt-drawer deposit range — cash ratings to $30K with a different (and more secure) drawer mechanism.

Most POS users specify the key lock

For POS deposit safes, the Ross 700 key lock is the most common specification — only the manager needs to open the safe (for end-of-day collection), and a key is the simplest and most reliable mechanism for that use case.

Setup

Installation

What to expect

UC Series under-counter safes can be installed by your dealer, your shopfitter, or any qualified installer. All three models can be positioned by one or two people.

Mounting is essential — even a compact under-counter safe can be removed by a determined thief. UC Series safes include 4 internal bolt holes for under-counter, in-cabinet or floor-fixed installations.

Installation checklist

  1. 01

Identify fixing bolt provisions — every UC Series model has 4 × internal bolt holes for under-counter, in-cabinet or floor mounting. Confirm hole positions with your dealer or shopfitter before drilling.

  2. 02

Identify install position with access clearance (allow for door swing and handing)

  3. 03

Confirm delivery access route (doorways, corridors, stairs)

  4. 04

Schedule installation through your dealer — most offer delivery + install as a package

  5. 05

Keep installation certificate for insurance records

Secondary Defence

Glass Relocker Protection

UC Series safes include a spring-loaded case relocker — a secondary locking mechanism designed to activate if the primary lock is attacked. Understanding how it works helps you know when it’s engaged and what to do if it is.

How it works

A thin glass plate is embedded behind the primary lock body. If a drilling, punch, or torch attack breaks the glass, spring-loaded secondary bolts deploy and jam the locking mechanism. Once activated, the safe cannot be opened even if the primary lock is subsequently bypassed — it requires professional recovery by a qualified safe technician.

The relocker is a permanent protection feature, not a consumable. It exists to make the safe effectively unusable to an attacker even if they partially succeed against the primary lock.

If your relocker activates

If you cannot open your safe and suspect the relocker has engaged (usually after attempted forced entry), contact your Dominator dealer immediately. Do not attempt forced opening — this can cause permanent damage to the safe body.

A qualified safe technician can recover the relocker and restore normal operation. The safe itself remains structurally sound and can usually return to service after a relocker recovery.

Maintenance and Servicing

UC Series safes require minimal maintenance. Clean the note slot periodically to remove paper dust and debris that can build up from frequent deposits. Lubricate locks and hinges occasionally and replace electronic lock batteries annually under Power for Life.

Every 12 months

Battery replacement (electronic/biometric locks)

Redeem your free battery through Power for Life. Replace before low-battery warnings, not after.

Every 12 months

Lock lubrication (mechanical dials)

Apply a drop of lock-grade lubricant to the dial spindle annually. Avoid WD-40 or general-purpose oils — they can gum up precision movements.

Every 12 to 24 months, depending if commercial or domestic use

Professional service

Book a qualified safe technician to inspect hinges, bolt work, and relocker mechanism. Typical service takes 30–60 minutes.

Every 5 years

Seal inspection

Check fire seals (where fitted) for compression and integrity. Replace if damaged.

Support

Troubleshooting

UC Series safes include a spring-loaded case relocker — a secondary locking mechanism designed to activate if the primary lock is attacked. Understanding how it works helps you know when it’s engaged and what to do if it is.

Electronic lock won't open — no response from keypad.

Battery is most likely depleted. Replace the 9V battery and try your code again. Use a brand-new Duracell 9V Alkaline battery only. If the keypad still doesn’t respond, contact your dealer for diagnosis.

Electronic lock responds but rejects correct code.

Mechanical dial won't open — combination correct but bolts don't retract.

Lock is working, but handle does not unlock.

Safe door is difficult to open or close.

Safe is damaged or inoperable after attempted forced entry.
