DS Series safes are engineered to resist the realistic attack vectors a safe faces — drilling, punching, hinge attack, and prying. Every feature below is standard across the range.
Walls up to 40mm thick
Heavy-gauge walls encase high-density fire and penetration resistant materials.
Lift-off hinges with bar lock
Full-length bar lock protects against hinge attacks — the door remains secured even if hinges are removed.
Up to seven Ø32mm bolts
Chrome-plated active locking bolts engage across the opening side. Bolt count scales with model size.
Anti-drill plating
All models include manganese steel drill-resistant plating and glass relockers. DS-2 through DS-7 add anti-punch case relockers.
Glass panel relocker
Tempered glass panel relocker deploys secondary locking bolts if the primary lock is attacked. Standard across the range.

Secondary Key Lock Upgrade

DS Series Specification Tips
Matching footprint across DS-2, DS-3, DS-4
DS-2, DS-3 and DS-4 share the same width (550mm) and depth (550mm) — only the height differs. All three models accommodate standard cash register till drawers, making them interchangeable for retail applications as your needs grow.
Relocker protection varies by model
DS-0 and DS-1 include manganese steel drill-resistant plating and tempered glass panel relocker. DS-2, through DS-7 include these features plus anti-punch case relockers for additional protection against forced-entry attacks.
Secondary key lock upgrade
Adding a secondary Ross 700 key lock to DS-2 through DS-7 increases the insurable cash rating. Confirm upgraded rating with your dealer at time of order.

Installation
What to expect
Most DS Series safes can be installed by your dealer or a qualified safe installer. Smaller models (DS-0 to DS-2) can be positioned by on or two people. DS-3 onwards typically requires mechanical handling or a specialised trolley.
Floor bolting is strongly recommended for all safes — an unbolted safe can be removed in minutes by a determined thief. DS Series safes include dual Ø16mm floor-fixing provisions, and a properly installed safe effectively weighs several tonnes in tensile resistance.

Secondary Defence
Glass Relocker Protection
DS Series safes include a glass relocker — a secondary locking mechanism designed to activate if the primary lock is attacked. Understanding how it works helps you know when it’s engaged and what to do if it is.
How it works
A thin glass plate is embedded behind the primary lock body. If a drilling, punch, or torch attack breaks the glass, spring-loaded secondary bolts deploy and jam the locking mechanism. Once activated, the safe cannot be opened even if the primary lock is subsequently bypassed — it requires professional recovery by a qualified safe technician.
The relocker is a permanent protection feature, not a consumable. It exists to make the safe effectively unusable to an attacker even if they partially succeed against the primary lock.
If your relocker activates
If you cannot open your safe and suspect the relocker has engaged (usually after attempted forced entry), contact your Dominator dealer immediately. Do not attempt forced opening — this can cause permanent damage to the safe body.
A qualified safe technician can recover the relocker and restore normal operation. The safe itself remains structurally sound and can usually return to service after a relocker recovery.
Maintenance and Servicing
DS Series safes require minimal maintenance but benefit from occasional service to keep locks and hinges operating smoothly over decades of use.

Apply a drop of lock-grade lubricant to the dial spindle annually. Avoid WD-40 or general-purpose oils — they can gum up precision movements.

Electronic lock won't open — no response from keypad.
Battery is most likely depleted. Replace the 9V battery (externally changeable on DS Series electronic locks) and try your code again. Make sure to use a brand-new Duracell 9v Alkaline battery only. If the keypad still doesn’t respond, contact your dealer for diagnosis.
Electronic lock responds but rejects correct code.
Mechanical dial won't open — combination correct but bolts don't retract.
Lock is working, but handle does not unlock.
Safe door is difficult to open or close.
Safe is damaged or inoperable after attempted forced entry.
